ABOUT

Carl Catron is a São Paulo–based freelance saxophonist, born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. He began his musical journey as a pianist at age seven, but discovered his true passion for the saxophone at eleven after meeting renowned saxophonist Kirk Whalum. Proficient on alto and baritone saxophones, his main focus and mastery are on the tenor saxophone.

He studied at Berklee College of Music from 2007 to 2011, where he refined his skills and developed a style strongly influenced by both jazz and rock. Inspired by artists such as Steve Vai, John Coltrane, Michael Brecker, and Grover Washington, Carl became known for his fluid and fast playing. He later formed the band Authentic Counterfeit (2007–2012), which reimagined pop and R&B music with rock and jazz elements, highlighted by a tour in Torino, Italy, in 2012.

Continuously striving for growth, Carl remains dedicated to practice, performance, and collaboration, seeking to expand his musical horizons and discover the full extent of his artistic abilities.
